A cotton fleece hoodie with its flag lined up across the zip

A brand sent us a photo of a vintage-look hoodie whose flag print runs across the chest and straight through the zip. The boxy cotton fleece hoodie we developed from it has flag stripes that meet across the closed zip.

A boxy body in 450 gsm fleece

The brand wanted a relaxed fit with dropped shoulders and a boxy body cut slightly short. Size M is 56 cm across the shoulders and 58 cm across the chest; its 70 cm length is short for a body that wide. The chest, length and shoulders go up 2 cm a size. Sleeves run from 62 cm on the S to 65 cm on the XL. The brand agreed to one fit sample before any bulk production.

The spec sheet lists the fleece as 100% cotton at 450 gsm in the off-white Pantone 11-0103 TCX Egret. At that weight the hoodie has the substantial feel the brand asked for. We quote hoodies in fleece of 400 gsm or heavier toward the top of the Custom (Made to Order) price range.

Red lettering on a distressed hood

Small nicks along the edge of the hood give it a subtly worn, vintage look. Multi-head embroidery machines stitched the red lettering onto several cut hood pieces at a time. Once sewn, the hood would have a curve and seams that an embroidery hoop couldn't hold flat.

Embroidery adds to the hoodie price: a one-time $10 to $75 to digitize the lettering for the machines, plus $1 to $3 per thousand stitches.

A flag printed across the front halves

The flag has red and white stripes and a blue corner panel with a white cross. The zip runs straight down through it and splits the pouch pocket below in two. We had the flag printed across the two front halves while they lay edge to edge on the printer, before the zip went in. Send a print like this as one piece of artwork that shows how it should look on the finished hoodie.
